I offer multiple services for dog training. My training is based on years of experience, but no professional certifications or degrees. My training is a combination of psychology, animal sociology, and people conditioning. Read below to see if what particular service applies to your needs. Please remember I can train your dog to respect and listen to me, but what matters is that they respect and listen to you. Therefore, much of my training is more focused on the owners, than on the dog. Prevention of repetition of the same situations is my goal. Pre-Puppy: This service occurs before you even purchase or bring home your new puppy. I will spend time talking to you about breeds, examine your home and lifestyle to be sure the breed you choose is correct for you, recommend the proper gear for your new addition and how to use it, and lastly offer advice on your home for safety for the puppy and your belongings. If you have never had a puppy before, I highly recommend this investment. It will save you heartache, maybe heartbreak and possibly a whole lot of hair pulling. In-Home Evaluation for Dogs Six-months and Younger: Younger dogs are generally easier to evaluate than older dogs. I will evaluate your dogs level of training, the control all individual family members have over the dog, and the respect your dog has for your family and home. From there I will recommend the training program that will help you and your dog have a happy life together. This may include recommendations for attending training classes, a list of basic at home changes that will require no follow-up visits, or a recommendation of In-Home One on One Training. In the worst case scenarios, I may recommend more extensive intervention requiring the dog to come to my home for one or two weeks for Short-Term/Long-Term Private Training, followed up by In-Home One on One Training. Basic training and techniques will be given following the evaluation. These tips may be all you need to improve your home life with your dog. In-Home Evaluation for Dogs Seven-months and Older: I separate the two categories because dogs over six-months usually have established more habits and traits that need corrective action. I will evaluate your dogs level of training, the control all individual family members have over the dog, and the respect your dog has for your family and home. It is imperative that all family members be present for this evaluation. Establishing the leader of the pack and the subordinates of the pack is vital. I know this sounds like mumbo-jumbo to some, but pack hierarchy is very important to your dog and their role in your family. From there I will recommend the training program that will help you and your dog have a happy life together. This may include recommendations for attending training classes, a list of basic at home changes that will require no follow-up visits, or a recommendation of In-Home One on One Training. In the worst case scenarios, I may recommend more extensive intervention requiring the dog to come to my home for one or two weeks for Short-Term/Long-Term Private Training, followed up by In-Home One on One Training. Short-Term Private Training: If determined necessary from the initial evaluation, I will bring your dog to my home for 24-hour a day extensive training. In general, dogs with short-term difficulties will remain at my home from 4-7 days. Dogs with short-term difficulties are generally those that occasionally listen to commands, but very often ignore them completely. They will learn from example from my dogs, learn respect for pack hierarchy, and learn patience from a variety of lessons in control. This will only teach your dog basic commands, basic behaviors for a safe and happy household and respect for me. This training must be followed up immediately with Family Training and In-Home One on One Training. We need to transfer the training and reinforcement to the pack in your home. The first goal of this program is to immediately correct behaviors that are dangerous and difficult to live with at home. The second goal is to train the family to handle the dog properly so that the extensive training becomes a part of life and the bad habits never return. Long-Term Private Training: If determined necessary from the initial evaluation, I will bring your dog to my home for 24-hour a day extensive training. In general, dogs with long-term difficulties will remain at my home from 9-14 days. Dogs with long-term difficulties are generally those who completely disrespect the wishes and commands of their owners 90% of the time. They will learn from example from my dogs, learn respect for pack hierarchy, and learn patience from a variety of lessons in control. Do to the pattern of learning or the years of poor behavior, training will need to focus on pack hierarchy, learning all basic commands, and general retraining of overall behavior patterns. This will only teach your dog basic commands, basic behaviors for a safe and happy household and respect for me. This training must be followed up immediately with Family Training and In-Home One on One Training. We need to transfer the training and reinforcement to the pack in your home. The first goal of this program is to immediately correct behaviors that are dangerous and difficult to live with at home. Family Training: Sounds silly, I know. Most people don't realize that difficulties with dog behavior come from inconsistency in the home between family members when dealing with your dog. I can't fix how your neighbors or how your relatives deal with your pet, but I can show you the best way for your family to have a respectful and consistent relationship with your dog. This training will enable you to have the family dynamic that will result in most consistent behavior in your dog. This service takes about an hour and is $60. In-Home One on One Training: This training occurs at your home with the main dog handler, any other family members who want to attend, and the dog. You will need an appropriate work space, such as a large family room, clean area of a basement, or a fenced in yard. The less distractions in the beginning of our sessions, the better focused the dog and handler will be. I will come to your home and will lead you through basic dog training. You and your dog will work as if in attendance of a class, but in the privacy and convenience of your own home. The classes will focus on proper training of basic behaviors, positive and negative reinforcement, dominance, and special types of reward. Group Training At Home: This service is for you, your friends, your neighbors or whomever may wish to attend basic dog training. The service is for one hour and is run like a private group class at your home or a location of your choice. The area should be fenced in for maximum control or be a large room like a basement in a house. The area should be free of most major distractions such as children, loud noises, and other animals.
